The common element of all such art is creativity - putting something new in the world, or bending the world into a new shape according to one's will. This as opposed to science or philosophy, where we merely study the world and do not touch it. There must be stuff written on this topic, but I have never read it. 15:00 < conseo> mcallan: ok. "kunst" in german mostly relates to fine arts, while the adjective "künstlich" is similiar to artificial (e.g. plastic is "künstlich"). but i can't recall "mechanische künste"... this root might exist though, since mechanics have been historically tight to arts (at least when e.g. having a look at renaissance like leonardo da vinci) 15:02 < conseo> mcallan: do you have a notifier for the mailing list to remind people that a new version of the homepage will be setup soon and a link to it? 15:23 < mcallan> conseo: my home page ambitions have been deferred a little. As long as we're not stalled on the user front, i'll concentrate on the code. (besides, i was going to put the theatre app front and center on the home page, and the app needs work first) 15:24 < conseo> ok 15:24 < conseo> i just thought about it and maybe a feed of upcoming decisions would be possible... 15:25 < conseo> assuming that we can export the bites with a mapper to atompub easily that would be a possible solution 15:26 < mcallan> yes, that would be a third feed (after D and Dum) --- Log closed Thu Apr 07 00:00:50 2011
